One of the most highlighted features in the recent upgrade of the Stock sync feature is the new Enable/ Disable Stock sync logic.
What happens if sellers enable/ disable the stock sync on Powersell?
BEFORE UPDATE 24 Sept 2020:
Powersell’s Stock sync works as the formula:
Physical Stock = Processing stock + Safety stock + Available stock (1)
When enabling Stock sync:
Stock level of the same SKU on different sales channels is similar and equal to “Available stock” on Powersell.
-
If there is an order placed that needs to be processed, the number of stocks needed to process will appear on “Processing Stock”. Immediately, it will reduce the “Available stock”, and then reduce the stock levels of all sales channels.
-
After the order has been processed, “Processing Stock” will be deducted by the number of processed stocks.
-
When the order is shipped out of the warehouse, “Physical stock” will be deducted.
Example:
-
“Physical stock” of SKU A is 100
-
“Safety stock” is 0
-
Orders placed with 12 items needed to process: “Processing stock” is 12
-
Applying formula (1), “Available stock” = 100 – 12 – 0= 88
-
Then, the level of stock of SKU A on all sales channels will be synced as 88
-
When 12 stocks of SKU A are completely processed, “Processing stock” will be 0
-
After the orders are shipped out of the warehouse, “Physical stock” = 100 – 12 = 88
-
Then, applying formula (1), we have “Available stock” = 88 – 0 – 0 = 88
When disabling Stock sync:
Powersell will STOP updating the “Processing stock”.
-
Stock level of the same SKU on the sales channels is NOT similar and NOT equal to “Available stock” on Powersell.
-
If there is a placed order that needs to be processed, the number of stocks needed to process will NOT appear on the “Processing stock”. It will NOT reduce the “Available stock” and stock of other sale channels.
AFTER UPDATE 24 Sept 2020
The stock sync feature on Powersell will work as the formula:
Physical stock = Processing stock + Safety stock + Campaign stock + Available stock (2)
When enabling Stock sync:
Powersell and sales channels on e-commerce platforms will sync the same way as before (Please have a look at the section above)
When disabling Stock sync: DIFFERENT!!!
The stock level on Powersell is still automatically calculated and updated, but not be synced to sale channels:
-
If there is a placed order that needs to be processed, the number of stocks needed to process will appear on “Processing stock”. Immediately, it will reduce the “Available stock”, but NOT reduce the stock level of other sales channels.
-
After the order has been processed, “Processing stock” will be deducted by the number of processed stocks.
-
When the order is shipped out of the warehouse, “Physical stock” will be deducted
Example:
-
“Physical stock” of SKU B is 100
-
“Safety stock” is 0
-
“Campaign stock” is 0
-
Placed orders need 12 stocks of SKU B: “Processing stock” is 12
-
Apply formula (2), “Available stock” = 100 – 12 – 0 – 0= 88
-
Then, the level of stock of SKU B on all sales channels will NOT be synced as 88 (because of disabling Stock sync)
-
When 12 stocks of SKU A are completely processed, “Processing stock” will be 0
-
After the orders are shipped out of the warehouse, “Physical stock” = 100 – 12 = 88
-
Then, applying formula (2), we have “Available stock” = 88 – 0 – 0 = 88
However, the level of stock on sale channels will NOT be synced with the “Available stock” on Powersell
This Disabling stock sync Logic is useful for sellers who set the virtual stock level on their sale channels, but still desire to control the real level of stocks in the warehouse
Example:
-
Sellers can set the stock of SKU A as 10,000 on the Lazada stores and 10,000 on the Shopee stores.
-
In fact, sellers only have 100 stocks of SKU A in the warehouse
-
Sellers can use Powersell to set the “Physical stock” as 100 and disable Stock sync.
-
Powersell will automatically calculate the real level of stocks but do not affect the virtual stock level on the sale channels.
